Here are some more tips on how to promote yourself as an eBay seller:
1. Another discussion form tip: you have heard of pink slips, but in the case of eBay it is important not to slip up in the presence of a pink, a.k.a an eBay employee. They keep track of how sellers present themselves on eBay forums to make sure you do not include some sort of advertising either in your User ID or in a signature that is attached to your message. So keep close tabs on what you say and how you present yourself, or you are in danger of receiving a warning message from an eBay moderator.
2. Everything you do as a seller reflects on your professional reputation. That includes your User ID. Try to avoid a User ID that sounds silly or is hard to remember. Do not be in such a hurry that you go with your first instinct. Sleep on it a few nights, and try it out on friends or family members.
3. If, however, you change your mind, it is not a disaster. Remember that you will not lose your feedback or your current auction information if you change your User ID. You only need to go to My eBay, click Accounts, click Change My Personal Information, and then click Change My User ID.
4. Branding is what big-time corporations do to make their company names and slogans household words. You can do it too. Be consistent in your use of color, text and images.
5. Consider building your own "brand" by coming up with your own logo. You can create your own by using a free online utility such as Cool Text, or you can hire a graphic designer and get a high-quality logo for less than $500. You can use it for years to come on your stationary and business cards as well as your web page, so it is well worth the investment.
Do ensure that you promote your eBay business outside of eBay so that you can enjoy greater profits in the long run.
