Second, the straps. If they are not sufficiently adjustable and padded, you will feel uncomfortable. The straps need to be wide so that they will not dig in, and they need to be adjustable so that you will feel comfortable when carrying the backpack..
Third, pockets and size. It is crucial to have enough pockets, otherwise you may end up having to carry another bag. It should have enough space for the phone, ipod, power cable, and documents.
Last advice, if you have a big screen laptop, you should make sure to check whether it may fit in the bag. No matter how well a bag is designed, if the laptop just doesn't fit in, certainly it is not a good bag!
